The following victims were discovered in December of 2010:
After Shannan Gilbert vanished the night of May 1st, 2010, the remains of four young women were discovered in the area of Gilgo Beach, wrapped in burlap, all apparently the victim of strangulation. All the victims were in their mid-20's and worked in the sex trade, typically using Craigslist as their primary outlet of advertising. These initial four victims were Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello.
The following victims were discovered around March and April of 2011:
Of the additional remains found in the Gilgo Beach area at this time, only that of Jessica Taylor has been identified. Pieces of Taylor had been discovered in Manorville, Long Island, an area about 45 miles away.
Additional unidentified bodies were also discovered around this time, including that of "Peaches," an individual known solely by her tattoo. Two "Jane Doe" victims were discovered, as well as "Baby Doe," who is believed to be a victim of the elements, due to no apparent trauma found on the body. Also of note is the individual known as "John Doe," a believed-Asian male found in women's clothing.
